January....and the BIG NEWS

Ok well I guess I have to go all the way back to January to really explain how we got to our BIG NEWS today.  Most everyone that knows me knew that due to medical problems and a surgery I am unable to get pregnant and carry children.  This is one of the most gut wrenching sad bit of news any woman can hear.  I had horrible pregnancies....I was sick the entire time but it is sill such an incredible miracle to experience.  Mark adopted Shelby and Shaylee and together we have an incredible family.  One thing that we had put a lot of thought into was having children together.  Options: adoption or surrogacy.  We spent a lot of time talking about options and went through a very lengthy process and decided to go with surrogacy.  What is surrogacy?  This is where a woman goes through 12 weeks of shots and medications to get her body ready to carry our baby.  Because of my surgery we actually had to have an egg donor as well.....so how many people does it take for us to have a baby...3: Mark, our egg donor (who because of legal reasons we are not allowed to know much about her ) and our surrogate. 

Our surrogate's name is Jennifer and she is from Idaho and has 5 kids of her own.  We met her through our lawyer but feel like it was a force bigger than any of us that led us to her.  She looks a lot like me and is  incredible.  She said she felt like 6 years ago after having her youngest child that she was supposed to help another family be able to have children.  I am so thankful for her!  In Jan. after the legal process was signed and taken care of and after Jennifer going through 12 weeks of shots we did our first attempt at getting pregnant.  We found out it didn't work, and needless to say we were heartbroken.  This is such an emotional process anyway but at that moment I felt as if I had lost another baby.  The worst part was having Mark so far away when we got the bad news. 

Now a lot has gone on between now and then and I will post about that in the next few days but I am excited to say that in June Mark came back again and we made attempt number 2 at getting pregnant and yes this time it worked!!!  We are 12 weeks pregnant right now and with TWINS!!!!!  Now this is very sensitive to talk about and this is why we wont be posting about it on facebook.  Comments and questions on here are more than welcome!!!  Such an exciting chapter of our little family!!!
