Ok so June first is now one of my favorite new days!!!! Why???? It marks the one year mark for us! It is so funny because we have had so many firsts but next year is a BIG first for us...after 3 LONG years of Mark being in England we will all be living together in the same country and same house. It is so funny because I think of stupid little things that I look forward to like cooking dinner and eating as a family. We love him so much and can't wait to all be together at long last. This year for Father's Day is big as well...this is Mark's first year being an "official" Dad. The last 3 years he has been "dad" to the girls but to have it official is a whole other ball game.
I asked the girls the other day and they shared something with me that was very power full. They knew the exact moment that they wanted Mark to be their Dad. As told by Shelby:
"We had been up camping at Lava Hot Springs and mom wasn't feeling well. Dad left before us to come to the house and rest. He called and asked where we were, mom told him that we would be home soon and that she felt sick. When we got home he had dinner waiting and flowers on the table. We ate and then he told mom to go and lay down and that he would take care of us. He cleaned up and took Shaylee and I to the movie Night at the Museum 2. Not only did he take care of mom but made it fun for us and he didn't yell or be mean to mom (something that their biological dad did a lot)....this is when I knew I wanted him to be my Dad. I knew he loved us and mom more than anyone else ever could."
As told by Shaylee:
"I knew the first time I met Dad, are you kidding me? He was so handsome! We went to Park city...well we were going to go ride the Heber Creeper but was late so we stopped in Heber City. He bought me and my sister movies and opened the door for us. We went to the Children's museum and then to Market Street Grill. He had us try calamari for the first time...and we loved it! Then he took us to the Hannah Montana Movie. It wasn't just mom that he dated...he dated us and cared for us and I love him so much! I love to snuggle with him and know that he will be there for me forever!"
It warms my heart so much that even though my life took a couple of detours I got a second chance...at life and love and the family that I dreamed of since I was a little girl. I am so thankful for all we have been blessed with.

Shelby
Well Shelby didn't have an end of year program, but she did graduate from the sixth grade! She received the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence. I am so proud of her! There again I cannot believe she is growing up so fast...seventh grade and junior high next year! Both girls have grown up so fast but they are such good kids! Shaylee finished the year WAY ahead of where she started and is excelling in reading and science...and math...the kid loves numbers! Love these girls!
Shaylee
Well with the end of the school year brings all the final programs. Shaylee's class did a program on Utah through the years. She didnt have a speaking part but she got to help the Seagull fly and clack the wooden clackers. She did such a good job! My Dad was awesome and recorded the whole thing so when Mark get's home he can watch it with her....something she talks about ALL the time! I cannot believe that my baby is going to be in 5th grade next year...crazy how time flies.
